To
state that I enjoy my dancing, could definitely be considered
euphemistic. To put it more succinctly: I'm having the most
fun I've had for centuries!
Hi,
I'm Karen, a 50 year old yoga teacher, massage therapist, home
executive and care giver. Although the opening statement above
originated from my Nosferatic alter ego, apparent in the accompanying
photograph, I concur wholeheartedly.

1. How does tribal differ from other forms of bellydancing? What are it's distinctive qualities?
For me the basic movements are the same as other forms of bellydancing, but
there is a definitely different aesthetic to the dance.
A slower tempo and greater emphasis on the definition of movements, less

2. What drew you towards this form? I was not very concerned
about the form when I first enquired about classes etc, I just wanted to do
belly dancing full stop, however, having s... Continue reading ...

Having done Tribal Bellydance made for much easier labour, I think because of the pelvic floor exercises and the soothing figure 8's during contractions. I would also recommend it as a good form of excersise when you're pregnant becasue it's relatively low impact, puts no stress on the baby and makes you feel healthy! And - something that often flies out the windo when youre preggies - sensual! Michelle and Layla Continue reading ...
Tribal Fusion bellydance is an american variation of Bellydance. With the utmost respect for Bellydance in its original form the tribal dancer combines movements and music from other dance forms and cultures to creat a dance that is uniquely her own. Ther costumes reflect their individuality and the cultures from which they borrow their moves or music. The music that moves them is modern or ancient, fluid or percussive. Continue reading ...

5th of February began bright and early - sitting in the morning traffic in full costume and make up is an experience every dancer should have at least once! I was heading for my new Parkhurst class where we (Karen, Vanessa and I) would be interviewed for the Rosebank/Killarney Gazette. Sahira our reporter arrived and took some candid shots of us performing a choreography and some nice posed ones too. The article appeared in last weeks paper - 11 Feb edition. Sahira did a good job of defin... Continue reading ...
