1. How does tribal differ from other forms of bellydancing? What are it's distinctive qualities?
For me the basic movements are the same as other forms of bellydancing, but
there is a definitely different aesthetic to the dance.
A slower tempo and greater emphasis on the definition of movements, less
glitzy.
2. What drew you towards this form?
I was not very concerned
about the form when I first enquired about classes etc, I just wanted to do
belly dancing full stop, however, having started to learn tribal I really enjoy
the languid motions and the very cool music.
3. Do you find bellydancing gives your students more confidence
in themselves and their own feminity/their bodies?
For me
personally I would say for sure! It is the one time in the week when your
wiggling wobbling butt is a must, and shaking what your mama gave you no matter
the size, the dipples or the stretch marks is all great - so long as you get it
moving.
4. What are the physical benefits?
I would say discovering, or locating muscles that are there but that you
are not neccesarily aware of.
